Fees

Consultation fees may vary according to time and complexity.

Standard consultation time is 15 minutes.

Additional charges will apply for prolonged consultations, minor surgery, medical supplies, certificates, prescriptions, referral letters, home visits etc.

You are expected to pay for your consultation on the day of service unless prior arrangements have been made with our office administrator. We understand that at times urgent care may preclude payment on the day.

Unpaid overdue fees will incur an administration fee of $8.50. All debt collection fees will be the responsibility of the account holder.

If you are unable to arrive for your appointment that has been made by yourself for either a Doctors or Nurses appointment, and you do not notify us, a “did not arrive” (DNA) fee will apply.

Prescriptions are issued at the doctor’s discretion.

Please allow 24 hours for scripts.

Please ensure you have sufficient medication, please ring for repeats at least a week before running out.

Phone/ Remote Consultations

The charge for these consultations is based on the time it takes to complete the consultation plus any time that is required to complete the notes, prescriptions and other tasks  required for your management.

 

Nurse Consultations

For many of our patients, our nurses are the first point of contact for information and guidance about their health. Consultations will incur a fee. Nurse consultation fees may vary according to time needed and any procedures carried out. If you are unable to arrive for your appointment that has been made by yourself for a Nurses appointment, and you do not notify us, a “did not arrive” (DNA) fee will apply.

Practice Nurses are available for appointments, they provide the following services:

  • Well Health Promotion
  • Heart Disease Risk Assessment
  • Dietary and Lifestyle Modification
  • Well Child Assessment and Immunisation
  • Wound Care
  • Quit Smoking Programmes
  • Weight loss programmes
  • Cervical Smears
  • Health Screening reviews
  • Diabetes review and initiation of insulin

 

Driver License Medical Fees

These medicals are not funded by the Ministry of Health, therefore a full fee applies.

Drivers Medical Fee for <75 years – $109.60 (doctor only)

Drivers Medical Fee for >75 years – $133.70 (doctor and nurse fee)

Parents and Caregivers of Under 14 Year Olds

Waihopai Health Services has reached agreement with the Southern Primary Healthcare Organisation (SPHO) – WellSouth – to provide standard 15 minute consultations at no charge to those children under 14 years old who are enrolled with us.

This agreement with the SPHO means that when your child, if under the age of 14 years old, presents for a standard consultation there will be no charge to the parent/caregiver for that standard consultation.

However reasonable charges may be made for:

  • Extended consultations (greater than 15 minutes)
  • Home visits and mileage
  • Extra procedures
  • Surgical procedures
  • Medical supplies
  • Referral letters
  • Phoned/faxed prescriptions
  • Non enrolled/casual consultations
  • Failing to arrive for a booked appointment without good reason

We are happy to clarify any questions that may arise.

Accident Consultations

Consultations as a result of an accident are subsidised by ACC. There is a surcharge for these services to cover the shortfall.

 

Important Notice to Students

Students turning 18 years while attending school need to apply for a Community Services Card before their birthday as no subsidy is paid after this age, unless a student has a current Community Services Card or is enrolled at the Practice.

Tertiary Students who are entitled to enrolment and produce their Student Card at the time of consultation will receive a 15% discount.
